Vin598 Description Art Deco Tutti Frutti Moulded Glass Jewel Necklace consisting of a long strand of colour moulded glass and silver beads with a unique pendant in the form of a jardiniere to depict flowers and leafs. This Necklace is done to the exact style of Tutti Frutti / Fruit Salad jewelry made by Cartier, although this necklace is NOT Cartier, but it is old and dates to the same period 1925 -30.
The necklace measures approx 18.25 inches end to end chain is doubled with pendant hanging down. The carved moulded glass beads alternate in colour with the silver beads. The filigree openwork clasp in the form of a flower may be a replacement and is marked STERLING. The, jardiniere pendant is made of silver with borders of marquisates and features a central carved green 5-sided portion that resembles jade. The carved flowers and leafs overflowing from the top of the jardiniere imitate rubies and sapphires. There is no mark on the back of the jardiniere, but it tests for silver.
For a very similar example actually made by Cartier, see page 172 of John Benjamin's book on Antique Jewellery. Tutti Frutti jewellery was initially made by Cartier and was copied by some of the best jewellers in France and other countries, normally known as Fruit Salad designers such as Trifari and Van Cleef and Arpels. Condition is excellent. I have shown pictures shown in sunlight as well as normal daylight.
