Egyptian Style Malachite Necklace

Vin547
Description - A stunning necklace of small 4mm round malachite beads with a centrepiece of graduated vertical malachite bars. The bars measure from just an under an inch long at each end up to 1.08 inches in the middle. The necklace is strung on green cotton and knotted between each of the small round beads, the total length of the necklace is 16.5 inches including the 5 inch wide centrepiece. There is some surface loss on the gold tone closure and some minor wear on the top corners of some of the vertical bars but this is very hard to see. The necklace comes in a faux wooden box which may or may not be the original box. This beautiful necklace is in excellent condition. The style emulates the traditional Egyptian curved collar, The combination of gold and malachite associates the wearer with the goddesses Hathor and Isis. The ancient Egyptians venerated green malachite as a symbol of joy. They associated it with the eternal cycle of life and referred to the afterlife as the field of malachite. With unique designs of bands of light and dark green, the malachite is particularly handsome.
