Item AHA0001 Description:   This decorative large tapestry features a 17th century scene of peasants reaping and harvesting in the Tuscany hills of Italy. Finely hand woven delicate wool captures the elegant details of both the peasants and the background scene. In ancient times, these tapestries were used to decorate affluent stately homes and important buildings such as churches and palaces. European tapestries, also considered as antiques, are amongst the favorite decor items of interior designers. After hours and hours of research I have not found a tapestry to match this one or the scene depicted on the tapestry anywhere on the internet. The tapestry is Hand woven using the same weaving method as Aubusson rugs, the yarns for tapestries are much finer.
The size of this magnificent large tapestry is 233.68cm long x 147.32cm wide ( 7 foot 8 inches x 4ft 10 inches ) This beautiful tapestry will arrive with tunnels up and down so you can hang it easily on the wall. You can buy special decorative rods to hang the tapestry. The tapestry is in excellent condition and will arrive rolled and securing wrapped.
Aubusson flat weave originated from France in around 16th century when they were made specially for nobility. Many different coloured threads are woven into the piece requiring an inordinate amount of time and skill. Aubusson tapestries contain amazingly over 100 colors and some even over 200, which results in an exceptional appearance.
