Item Vin625 Description: MEXICAN MODERNIST Pin/Pendant & Earrings - Nestor. Handsome Mexican figural modernist matching pin or can be a pendant and earrings. Mainly sterling with inlay mixed metals including sterling, brass and copper on a mosaic background of azur/malachite. The figures on the pin facing each other are slightly different and the earrings reflect the difference too. Male & female or from Aztec or Mayan myth?
There are many markings: Metales, Eagle 3, 925, sterling, Mexico. All signs point to known Mexican silversmith - Nestor. He is listed in Hougart's book on Mexican trade and hallmarks.
Pin/pendant - 2 inches wide at top x just over 1 inch high; earrings - 1 inch wide x 1.25 inch high. Earrings and pin/pendant have a subtle curve. No background pieces missing. Not polished. Condition and workmanship are excellent.
