This is a rare perfume bottle "SNUFF" by surrealist fashion designer Elsa Schiaparelli, from 1940. Snuff was a perfume created for men, Schiaparelli's pipe bottle design was inspired by the French surrealist artist Rene Magritte who had painted a pipe in 1929. The glass pipe bottle measures 5.5 inches long with no chips or cracks. The box is cardboard and measures 7 inches x 4 inches x 2 inches and is designed as a cigar box. The box is complete with the interior packing, but there is acid foxing to some of the paper liner and tape holding the hinge of the box.
This very rare perfume bottle and case was recently for sale on a well know auction website, this item is no longer for sale, shown for information purposes only.
