This was the description on the auction to describe this Masterpiece. This is a stunning Altar Crucifix that was apparently made to commemorate the indoctrination of St. Anthony as a doctor of the Church. We only say that based on the decoration and the image of St. Anthony on it along with his bascillica. It measures 40 inches tall by 16 inches wide. The crucifix is covered in Micro mosaic with terminating medallions enameled to show the evangelists. The Corpus is solid carved Ivory signed Barrell? See pic. the base is mounted with bronze cherubs holding the instruments of the crucifixion. They flank a relic of the true cross and sit above a cylindrical base paneled with Micro Mosaic depictions of the Major Bascillicas. NO losses of any kind and NO damage.
